THE CRAZY PLANT LADY’S GUIDE TO GERMINATING TROPICAL FRUITS.

Throughout the years I have heard from multiple people that seeds from stores do not germinate, and if they do, they will not produce fruit. Well, I have made it my own personal goal to see if this is correct or not with many tropical fruits. My goal with this blog is to share my experiences, and to hopefully help you in your journey in growing your own plants from seed.
Each time I buy a fruit from the store, I will take a picture of it and post it on here with a description and what my goal is as well as the method I will be using to germinate it. Every time something new happens with the seed I will post and take a picture. With this, you will have the opportunity to follow along with me and share your experiences and what you have tried and if it has worked or not worked for you.
If there is a fruit that you are having trouble with that you are trying to germinate sprout and grow, please do not hesitate to contact me. We can walk through it together, and I will post my results, and you can post yours as well.
Also, if you are interested… you can also purchase the plants that I sprout. Though, I recommend you trying it yourself first.

Papaya's!!! germination process, and steps to growing this plant.

 Papaya's!       I have done a lot of research into this process and I have found that fermentation is the best by far!  Now, papaya's germination does have a lot of steps that need to be followed in order for the seeds to be viable.      Cut the fruit into quarters and scoop the seeds into the bowl.  The reason I cut it into quarters is that it makes less of a mess, and there is less seed spillage.  though cutting it length wise would work too!  Make sure that you get some of the pulp and fruit in the bowl as well, this helps with the fermentation process.    Now pour some water into the mixture, about a 1 1/2 cups of water just so it covers the top of the seeds.  Set the bowl in an area that gets lots of sunlight for about 2 weeks.  If it starts to smell you can always cover it with something.  Also, If you see some bubbles in the concoction that just means fermentation is occurring. It is a good thing!!!  After the 2 weeks the seeds are ready to put into soil.  Put 5 seeds p

 Mango's    Mango's!!!     Mango's  are one of the easier things to grow, all you need to do is eat the fruit then clean the pit, let the pit dry out a bit, and then crack it open to reveal the seed.   But to crack it open you have to be careful.  You can pry the pit open by using something with a blunt edge like a screw driver or a dull butter knife.  Today, I was able to open it with my hands.     Next step after the seed is taken out, I always like to clean it up and take the extra skin off of it so that it does not mold, but it is not necessary to do this.       Then you wet a paper towel, squeeze it out, wrap the seed in it and place it in a plastic sandwich bag in a sunny spot.       Check the seed once or twice a week to ensure that the paper towel does not dry out, and if it does then just dampen it and put it back  in the sandwich bag. Meyer Lemon

   Meyer Lemons        As there are 25 different types of lemons I am just going to talk about the one that I plan on germinating.  But the information I give you works in germinating all the different types of lemons and citrus fruits.         Meyer Lemons are smaller in size, smoother, have a thinner rind and a less pronounced tip which is called the mammilla.  This lemon is rounder than oval and can measure up to 8cm in length. These lemons are a deep yellow color and are very fragrant.  The pulp is low in acid and are moderate in seed production.  In my lemon there were 4 seeds.   These lemons are available year-round but peak in the winter and spring months and are a good source of vitamin c, potassium, calcium and magnesium.        This type of lemon was brought over from Beijing in 1908 by a man by the name of Frank Meyer.  He was an explorer with the united states department of agriculture the fruit was named after him in honor of finding and bringing it back to the united stat
